What We’re About
At Faccia Brutto, we make bold, unapologetic Italian-style spirits in Brooklyn, New York. Our amari and aperitivi honor old-world traditions and styles while reflecting our own tastes, experiences, and obsession with flavor. Using sustainably harvested botanicals and well-honed methods, we create organic spirits that are complex yet approachable. From the home bar to the best cocktail programs, our bottles stand out for their character, integrity, and unmistakable design.
Faccia Brutto’s founder and distiller, Patrick Miller, worked as a chef for 19 years before turning his attention to creating spirits. Drawn to the ritual and culture of Italian drinking traditions, he created a product rooted in history and alive in the present. Patrick’s background in food means he treats making spirits less like manufacturing and more like cooking, layering flavors, sourcing with intention, and obsessing over balance until every bottle feels right.
Today, Faccia Brutto is a tight-knit team of specialists who share Patrick’s dedication to craft, curiosity, and character. Avery Fary, a former pastry chef who has been with the venture since the beginning, now leads production. Emma Forster, Rhys Williams, and Tavo Dam lead Marketing, Brand Advocacy, and PR responsibilities respectively.
The brand name Faccia Brutto is a purposeful derivation from the phrase "ugly face" (which in grammatically correct Italian should be "faccia brutta," before Italian speakers point this out), an affectionate tease popular among Italian grandmothers. Our standout label, featuring a cheerful and distinctive cartoon face of the underground American writer and poet Charles Bukowski, invites you to try the delicious drink inside and adds character to any bar.
Whether sipped straight or stirred into cocktails, Faccia Brutto offers a bold, elevated taste of Italian-American culture.

At the end of a deliciously long, extravagant meal, my body practically cries out for a digestif...this is where the Brat green bottle of Faccia Brutto Centerbe comes in.

Faccia Brutto makes a lot of great expressions in the amaro world, but their Aperitivo has to be one of the most pleasant bitter spirits around
